ADOPTED – RUBY

March 19, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – RUBY is a young lady that has a lot of enthusiasm for life.  You see, RUBY spent her first year of life in a small outdoor pen.  She certainly didn’t get the proper socialization that any dog needs and deserves. Despite her tough past, life is looking much better for Miss RUBY now!  RUBY is approximately fifteen months old and weighs about 45 pounds. A home where she can enjoy a lot of exercise and interaction with people and dogs would be ideal. She also needs her down (crate) time so more quiet and calm surroundings would benefit Ruby greatly. Experience with doggie confidence building will be a plus.

ADOPTED – JOSH

March 17, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

Meet JOSH, our three year old, 42 lb male Border Collie / Australian Cattle Dog mix sporting a soft, smooth coat with freckling on his paws, muzzle and chest.  He learned his name quickly and this smart, handsome lad has shown himself as quick to learn whatever we show him.  JOSH is a bundle of fun and joy bouncing out of his crate every morning ready for a day filled with exploring, playing with his 4 Border collie packmates at his foster home and waiting patiently…well, more or less patiently for a treat!  JOSH is a good guest here at his foster home. He learned to crate quickly and runs to his crate every time treats or dinner time is here. JOSH is quiet in his crate overnight. He has not had an accident while he’s been here so he is housebroken. He loads up easily in the car and rides nicely on road trips (even to the vet!).  JOSH plays nicely with his foster pack but this brash little chap had to be shown by his packmates where he was in the pack order. He took the lesson well.

ADOPTED – BARON

March 9, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – Allow me to introduce “Red” Baron. BARON has big paws, a fluffy coat, lots of spunk and energy, and, oh, and did I say BIG paws. At thirty two pounds and four months of age we expect Baron will tip the scales at 60+ pounds when he is all grown up and filled out. He is loaded with vim, vigor and spunk. BARON loves people and gets along well with, and wants to play with, the other dogs all day long. His best bud is 3 month old Rob (the black and white also pictured and posting today). They wrestle, they chase each other, they chase balls, and they scamper around the yard like they own the place.

ADOPTED – BENNY

March 9, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – Benny is a 7m old BC mix, weighing in at around 45lbs. He has a soft, fluffy, wavy coat that makes him very nice to cuddle with.

BENNY loves all dogs, cats, people, birds, lizards and pretty much anyone he meets. He greets everyone and everything with a wag and a smile. His favorite thing is his person who he will follow around the house or yard all day. His second favorite thing is food, one of his nicknames is Hambone. He is a stocky little dude who will likely top out around 50-60lbs.

ADOPTED – ROB

March 9, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – ROB is an active, fun loving puppy of three months. He is mostly black with white on his chest and feet and a short to medium soft coat. Rob weighs in at 25 lbs. ROB’s mom and dad both were border collies and it shows. The boy is full of energy and loves to run and play. He doesn’t care if he is the chaser or the chasee. ROB really enjoys playing with other dogs and will need a home with a big brother or sister from whom to learn the ropes and be a friendly and playful companion.

ADOPTED – CUBBY

February 21, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – CUBBY is a 7-month-old, 33# energizer bunny.  He has an infectious enthusiasm for everything he encounters: dogs, toys, birds flying overhead, etc.  Running & leaping & dashing & pouncing (yes, like a rabbit) & chasing are his favorite activities.  He will throw toys in the air for himself, catch them, & run wild zoomies around the yard, trying to get his foster mom to chase him.  He does love to be chased, but with other dogs he likes to take turns.  His play with his foster sister–an adult border collie–involves chewing on her, especially her tail (live tug toy?), running alongside her, pouncing on her, & repeating the above until both of them have tongues dangling & bodies flopping on the ground without an ounce left.  The older female dog in his foster home is very capable of telling him when she’s had enough, but the other dogs are not & sometimes don’t appreciate his attentions.  He will keep up this kind of play with another dog until his foster mom takes him back in the house & puts him in his pen or crate for a nap.  He is not mean or aggressive in his play, but he is relentless, his play mocking “herding,” so a home with another steady & strong older border collie would be best for him.  He would also do well as a single dog in a border collie experienced home.  He would not be a good candidate for dog park play & exercise.  We don’t know how he would be around cats or other animals.

ADOPTED – CINDER

February 21, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – CINDER is a dignified 8-year-old border collie/lab mix of about 45#, who is deaf.  Her lack of hearing doesn’t seem to make a bit of difference except in a good way.  Cinder is not bothered at all by noises, including the barking of other dogs.  She finds her way & watches her foster mom attentively for direction.  She is a low-key girl, gentle & devoted.  Cinder loves nothing more than curling on a soft bed, stretching out for deep rubs, padding around the yard with her foster mom, & taking the short walk.  She came to us with a rear leg injury that probably resulted from her leg being tangled in fencing wire; it has left her with a slight hitch in her gait (but no pain), & a slim scar.  She got this injury during the most recent wildfire in Butte County, when she was found stray & injured by firefighters.

ADOPTED – SADIE

February 18, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – SADIE is just about the cutest and sweetest pup you will ever meet. She is a young, rough-coated sable girl, weighing in at 45lbs with room to grow. SADIE has proven herself to be a quick learner and does not like to disappoint. She picked up her name in a matter of days, has not had any accidents in her foster home, and knows what “no” means. Although she does not exactly prefer her crate, she can typically be coaxed in with a treat and tolerates it while her fosters are away from home. SADIE is learning not to jump on people, figuring out what she can and cannot chew on, and realizing that everybody and everything is her friend.

Adopted – Molly

February 16, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

Adopted – MOLLY was a great momma to “The Brat Pack” and now it’s her time to shine. Molly’s ideal day is eat, go out and play (i.e. chase birdies in flight, chase a ball) while stopping from time to time to chew a little grass, rinse and repeat. She prefers if her humans come with her but is content to roam the yard on her own or with a canine buddy. Molly will then come in for pets, loving and curling up on the couch with her person, or making herself comfortable on one of the many dog beds around the house (most often the one in foster dad’s office when he is close by, like right now as I write this).

ADOPTED – LOVE

January 31, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – LOVE is the most affectionate dog you will ever meet.  She is a very young 3 year old female with a lot of energy and a youthful spirt.   She has the most beautiful blue eyes, a white tipped nose and paws with fur like velvet.  LOVE is a slender 40 pounds with a girlish figure. She has long, showgirl legs and loves to run more than anything else.  Kissing is a close second.  This high energy dog is very active, playful and full of affection.  She’s likes to be involved with the family and is not a passive family member.  She wants to be where the action is!

ADOPTED 1/22/2022 RAZZBERRY

January 6, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED 1/22/2022 – RAZZBERRY is sweet & in-your-face affectionate; she doesn’t take “no” for an answer. She is confident, adventurous, & is involved in everyone else’s play. She is the first one to go on adventures in the house, yet she can settle & cuddle, too. RAZZBERRY is a good eater & very food-motivated, which will make finding motivation for training a snap.

ADOPTED 1/22/2022 – SMOOTHIE

January 6, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED 1/22/2022 – SMOOTHIE is the most loving & calm of all the puppies when it’s time for cuddles or when she’s settled after lots of activity.  This girlie is food-motivated & figures out quickly what it takes to get what she wants.  You do something with her & she says “I’ve got it” & tries to do it again & again to get reward.  Her favorite games are tug & tug & tug & then, go chase a ball; when truly settled, she likes a nice chew toy to go to sleep with.

ADOPTED 1/22/2022 – WAFFLE

January 6, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED 1/22/2022 – Classically-marked WAFFLE is the smallest girlies, & at first blush, the most delicate. She is quiet & takes things in, checking things out before joining the fun. She is easy-going & never pushy. That said, Waffle is silly in her play—bouncing around, standing up, rolling, & kicking. All of the puppies are her playmates, & like her siblings WAFFLE enjoys tugging with the other pups & with people. Waffle likes people; & she loves to cuddle, give kisses, & even to bundle up after she settles from play. She would love a quieter, adult home.

ADOPTED – LATTE

January 6, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – LATTE’s short, easy-to-care for coat is a glorious mix of colors. This girl’s second name is FUN. Latte is curious, adventurous, & is willing to step out & try things on her own. Even with her adventurous spirit, she is still cuddly & affectionate, giving kisses & seeking comfort from her person & her littermates.

ADOPTED – OATMEAL

January 6, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – OATMEAL (OATIE) is willing to try anything.  He likes water a lot—both to drink & to play in.  Like his littermates he likes to tug with the other puppies, but his favorite playtime activities are to shake stuffed toys or to grab & tussle on his own with hanging tug toys.  Oatmeal is very affectionate & social with everyone he meets.

ADOPTED – MUFFIN MAN

January 6, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – MUFFIN MAN likes to give kisses as a reward when you sing his theme song (“Do You Know the Muffin Man?”) to him.  He is very loving; in fact, his foster mom called him a “big ball of love.”  He is curious & adventurous, but he especially likes to do whatever the group is doing.  And when he’s done playing hard with the group or chewing squeaky toys on his own, he likes to fall asleep on the stuffed red dog.

ADOPTED – DUKE

January 6, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED – DUKE is a gorgeous 53-pound, 2-year-old BC/Yellow Lab mix boy.  He is incredibly athletic & loves to run full out & to jump.  (He would be a great running partner or hiking buddy).  Even though he likes to jump, Duke is a kind boy, & he doesn’t jump up on people; when his front feet leave the ground it’s only to give his person a gentle hug.  He loves people & gets along beautifully with the dogs in his foster home.  He lived previously in a home with 6 other dogs, & he is reported to have gotten along well with all of them, too.  We don’t know about cats.

ADOPTED 1/22/2022 BANDIT

January 4, 2022/in 2022, Alumni

ADOPTED 1/22/2022 Meet BANDIT, a small (38#), 8-year-old boy who is ready to find his forever home.  Bandit was clearly neglected in his former life, but he’s loving life now after a dental, grooming, & a diet, as well as the attention of his foster family who loves him dearly.  Bandit likes meeting new people & exploring new places.  He likes to go for rides in the car & going for walks on a leash, & while he is not trained to heel yet, he does walk nicely on a leash.  He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home, but he loves one-on-one attention so much that his ideal home would be one in which he is the only dog.  While Bandit wins the Mr. Congeniality Award with people & other dogs, he is most definitely not a cat man.  He needs a home with no cats.

ADOPTED – SMOKY

December 22, 2021/in 2021, Alumni

ADOPTED – Meet SMOKY, a 1 year-old border collie mix of about 70 lbs, ready to start the new year in his new home.  Smoky is a strong, athletic, & agile boy, who would love to have an exercise buddy to go on adventures with, to run & play with, & then to hang out afterwards.  He is still very much a puppy despite his size.  The good news is that Smoky is a fast learner, & he loves treats & toys, so training with him is going to be fun & rewarding.  He adapts to routines very quickly.  He learned “sit” in a matter of minutes!  Smoky is acclimated to a crate, sleeping in his crate at night, but with the door open.  He is good about going potty outside (90% of the time & with a good routine).  His leash manners are coming along; he pulls a little in general & he still pulls a lot when he sees a squirrel or a small dog.

ADOPTED – MAMA Mercy

December 13, 2021/in 2021, Alumni

ADOPTED – MAMA MERCY is a small (around 32#), young (about 18 months) former mama dog of seven darling puppies.  The pups are heading off to their forever homes, & it’s time for MERCY to find her family.  A border collie mix with a docked tail & a smooth, easy-care coat, MERCY is a sweet, impish girl, who loves nothing more than to be with her people. She snuggles up to, follows around, & looks adoringly at her people, sometimes twirling in the air with joy.  Even though she is good with other dogs & with cats, she clearly prefers people.  She is nicely social with people she has just met.  And in all things, she is gentle.
